Personal information.
Born September 29, 1965, my father was in the Danish army, which means
you move every 5-10 years, so I have lived in most parts of Denmark: Although
my parents are from around Copenhagen, I grew up in Sønderjylland
(South-Jutland), living first near Rødekro, then near Sønderborg.
Very beautiful part of Denmark, with nice people, although they take a
while to get used to strangers. At the age of 19, I moved to Copenhagen,
to attend The Technical University of Denmark, near Lyngby. I got my M.Sc./ENG.
in 1991, and have worked for SEAS,
a power supply and transmission company, as a software engineer in the
wind-energy department. From March 1997, I worked for
Context, as a programmer as well as
maintaining a Linux server and doing a bit of HTML. I decided to leave
the HTML behind for more Unix/Linux-related work, and thus I have
been working for Finn Frogne
A/S since Nov. 2000 as a programmer.
Some more personal stuff.
My interests include:
-
Music.
Either the electronic
variety, such as Tangerine Dream, Vangelis etc.,
or the heavier stuff, mostly Led Zeppelin, as they are one of the few heavy
rock groups with enough talent. Both strands of my taste seem to merge
in my interest for Emerson, Lake & Palmer. No-one can (mis-)treat a Moog or a Hammond-organ like
Keith Emerson.
For a while I thought that modern music had nothing for me; after all, nobody makes
Progressive Music like they did in the seventies ... But my interest in heavy
music, coupled with whatever sense of humour I have, have led to me buying
CD's by artists such as Limp Bizkit
or Rammstein
(yes, I understand German!)
-
Science Fiction.
Either movies, like Blade Runner, Alien, Close Encounters
etc., or books, like the Foundation series by Asimov, the 2001 series by
Clarke, the Chanur series by C J Cherryh, hard SF like Forward and especially
books by Charles Sheffield. Of course I'm also somewhat of a Star
Trek fan, mostly of the original cast, although the newer TV-series
have better production values. Don't underestimate the Star Trek books!
-
Tolkien.
Actually, I got to know this impressive author through a Sinclair
Spectrum computer game, based on the book The Hobbit, as the book accompanied
the game. Now, I have a fairly complete Tolkien / Middle Earth collection
(and haven't played the computer game for many years :-).

Computers.
I spend most of my professional life working with DOS/Windows, so it is
quite refreshing to play around with other operating systems, such as QDOS
or Linux, which haven't been contaminated by Bill Gates. See my page of
links for more information on either QDOS, the
operating system for the Sinclair QL, or Linux. I started using Linux
with Slackware Linux 3.1, which I got from a 6-CD set by
Infomagic, with additional patches downloaded from Walnut Creek.
Since then I have used more recent versions of both Slackware and
Red Hat
Linux
-
Comics.
Of the high-quality variety, like Carl Barks, or Calvin & Hobbes,
or more specialised stuff (but still high-quality), like Ralf König
(see next item) or
Leonard and Larry
.

Being gay.
Yes, I'm a chubby-chaser,
so now you're warned :-) In December
1996, I met a nice Swede; Hans F., and I'll let him introduce himself
here.
In March 1998, I met another nice Swede,
Johan L.

I don't smoke or drink, but have a "thing" about Coca-Cola:
Note that we have the same birthday ...
